- Speed combats hesitancy - work quick.
- Free your mind, and your brush will follow. (Shut off your brain.)
- See and respond, nothing more.
- Squint!!! Shapes of value (there are no "outlines")
- Proportions = siting.
- Painting as a universe. Everything relates to everything else in your painting! (Sizes are relative to one another, values are relative.)
- Check your values!!!
- You only know a value is "dark" or "light" by its relationship to the value next to it.
- General to specific - never the other way.
- Your painting should "arrive" at the same time. (All at once as if out of a fog. Don't focus on the figure.)
- Control your edges.
- Atmospheric perspectives provides "depth."
- Identify your lightest light and darkest dark from the very beginning of your painting.
- Step back from your painting and LOOK!!!!!
